Just when we thought it was safe to enjoy the beauty and natural environment of Trigg Beach including the South Trigg Beach Class A Reserve, another Coastal Ward Councillor decides to have a “vanity project” and push to build an unnecessary and environmentally damaging coastal boardwalk between the car parks Scarborough to Trigg Beach. This was announced by the Mayor in May 2024 on Channel 9 before any Council consideration or public debate.
The Council included $500,000 for a coastal boardwalk feasibility study in its Corporate Business Plan in June 2024, based on a decision made behind closed doors at a Confidential “Elected Members Workshop”. The lack of transparency in this process is staggering, not even using FOI has tracked down the process, who was involved and why and on what basis was the decision made.
After spending half of this on consultant’s paid to provide the advice the Council is now spending the balance on a PR campaign to promote the boardwalk and is going through the motions of a “public consultation” from 30 July to 30 August 2025.
We need you to make a submission on line here: https://stirling.my.site.com/stirling/s/community-consultation-submission-form and we have plenty of information to help you say NO to the boardwalk here:
